That's trash in my opinion. No way I'd even consider trying to get the amount of material that's missing welded in, cut back to shape, extract the threads inside and grind out a new woodruff key way..... I just wouldn't trust it. Besides, it's going to be cheaper to buy a used crank, get it polished and put in new bearings on the bottom end.

I'm not sure why, but Ghostpopi's posts with pictures of the damage were flagged and in the moderation queue where no one else would see them. I've approved the posts so now everyone should see two posts each with one picture preceding my posts.

You should be able to get a crankshaft relatively cheap but shipping one won\'t be cheap and it needs to be packed by someone who knows what they\'re doing or you\'ll end up with a warped paperweight. This isn\'t the easiest thing to fix but it could be much, much worse.

I still feel threads inside. but the gough is bad...

So about how much would cost to get this fixed?? :dunno::(

Sonyps307 08-17-2012 07:27 PM

If ur going to pull the motor out to swap cranks u should just rebuild it while it's out.

It will cost more to get that crank reworked by a wizard than to just replace it with a used one... Even if the used one needs minor work done it will still most likely be much cheaper.

Is this a gte or ge? Either way if you are interested, I have a running 7mge with a bhg but no knocks at all. So I am sure the crank is probably in decent shape. I also have a 7mgte block with rod knock I will let go for cheap.
