Need help with 86.5, 7M-GE. Won't start, has power, does turn over.
Hello !
So everyday when I first go to start my car , I put my key in the ignition and turn it to on and everything works , so then I turn my car on and it all goes quite and nothing happens ... I hold my key in the on position for 5-10 seconds then it start to click and try to get up past 1k rpms but stays in the 500's for a bit ( my key is still turned to the start ) then finally I let go of my key and it slowly jumps up to 2k rpms then back down to 1k then im good to go. Could anyone please! help me out and try to diagnose the problem? Thanks! |

This isn't the busiest of board. I usually check in frequently, but I've had house guests for a few days.
Start with checking for diagnostic error codes stored in the ECU. There is a thread explaining the process and listing what all the codes are in the MKIII FAQ section. Also, when posting new threads make sure the title is descriptive. A lot of people just ignore threads if they don't know what it's about. And lastly, always post the specs of your car or put them in your profile signature so it shows up in your posts. If this car is a non-turbo there is a whole set of possibilities which aren't considerations with the turbo model and vice versa.

I've updated your thread title with what I think is the correct info. Also, don't just add your car's specs to your profile but also put them in the signature so they show up in all your posts and people who are trying to help don't have to dig at all.

Ok, well, here's a forum usage/etiquette crash course:
Read the descriptions of each forum before posting so you know you're in the right area. Check the FAQ sections for information about common problems and technical and troubleshooting information. Always use the search engine to see if your problem or similar problems have been posted by people in the past (as old as these cars are, few problems are unique and the solution has often been posted a couple times before). Read any stickies in the forums for information on how to best use the forums to your advantage with minimal headache. MKIII FAQ section: http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/mkiii-faq/

sounds almost like and afm prob or maybe low fuel pressure. if its turning over fine. if the starter isnt engaging or turning at all id look for corrosion, high resistance or a worn starter.
