7MGTE HEAD 1jz block ??
Good day/night all,
Im New somewhat to the supra. I know they're fast, strong and run hard. These are the only cars I vibe with outside the rotary(rx7, 1st gen). I have ran through countless threads and post..nothing helping me solid. Currently I have a 87 turbo supra with a 7mgte, it was knocking a little a few weeks ago, now its dead. I believe the bottom end is gone and will be(because of funds) hitting the junkyard for a block. I was told you could use the block from a cressida round body would work. Then I was told a 1jz block would work as well. Then I was told something else would work. I decided to come to the experts. My computer power supply died, so now I'm doing everything on my phone. Can anyone tell me the best block to use??Ie. Camry,Lexus, cressida..including year please. Thanks in advance. |

Later models of the MKIII were available with a 1JZ-GTE but only in Japan. You can do the swap and there is information posted here about it.
The M series heads and blocks are, for the most part interchangeable with one another and the JZ series heads and blocks are interchangeable with one another... The M series and JZ series share no common parts and none are interchangeable. I would avoid getting a 7M-GE block (the N/A MKIII Supra and the Cressida had these). They don't have the lower compression pistons, the blocks aren't drilled for the turbo oil supply and return and they don't have oil squirters to help cool the pistons. The Cressida didn't ever come with a 1JZ from what I recall. It was available with a 5M, 7M or 22R 4cyl. It's longer lived, JDM only siblings the Cresta and Chaser did offer the 1JZ.
