Default waste gate actuator tips

ok i finaly bought a new actuator for my 7m now to get to the turbo is pretty easy to replace lines for instance, but im thinking that to get the little c clip off the old actuator arm you have to pull the turbo out and set it on a bench, i might be wrong and thats why im asking. is there any way to replace the actuator whithout having to take the turbo out(maby from underneth whith really long needle nose plyers) im fully prepaired to take the turbo out but if there is an easier way im open to any helpfull hints from others that have done it befor.

also if there are any common problems that like to arrise when takeing the turbo out i would like to hear them so im prepaired

Replacing the waste gate actuator with the turbo still in the car promises to be an absolutely miserable project but I've never tried it. I suspect that if you remove the elbow and down pipe, extend the old actuator's armature and lock it in place with vice grips it could be done.

Taking the turbo out can be a major pain due to the hard pipe assembly for the oil supply and drain. Personally, I'd order a flex hose kit to use when you reinstall it.

from the start i thought it was going to be horrible to change it like most would. i had acces to a lift and changing it was the easiest thing in the world.first i took all the intake pipes off and exposed the turbo from there i losened the 2 bolts then raised the car and went from underneath whith a super long screw driver and REALLY long needle nose plyers, i took the little c clip holding the actuator arm to the actual waste gate off. once its off lower the car, place the new arm onto the wastegate then lift the car again and install the clip. lower again and pull the actuator into the right place and bolt it down.

all in all it took 30 minits at most

I'm glad to hear it was an easy job and went quickly. I haven't worked on or owned one in some time so.... I must also say that I'm glad to know that there are now suppliers of direct fit waste gate actuators for the CT-26, universal replacement actuators aren't fun to fit.

yah me to lol, the universal ones like you said are not fun at all. luckily i replace mine when i did becuase the old arm where the c clip snaps onto where the arm meets the waste gate its self was so badly ruseted im shure in a month it would have snaped and i would have been in a world of hurt
