Talking Preparation for engine

As i've seen, many of you all have 1jzs and I will very soon have one. I just need to kno all the things i need to get my car running. Heres a list of what comes with my engine when i get it.

5 Sp tranny
A/C
Alternator
Distributor
ECU
Engine wiring
Intake manifold
Obviously the engine itself
Power steering pump
Turbos
Sensors.

I'm new to the turbo thing cuz im goin from a 7m-ge to the 1jz. Is a downpipe necessary? What the hell does it do? And anyone kno where i can get a BOV that doesnt whistle? I just want one that sounds like its blowing air not a whistle. Or can you adjust it? I kno i need an intercooler but anything after that i have no clue. Any help would be good. Thanx.

on the 1jz i dunno but the rest i can help

the downpipe. especially a larger one, lets the turbo spool faster with less resrtiction, and lets the exhaust and the waistgate air mix more easily and flow faster, yes i think it is nessassary for making big power.

BOV, i like my hks ssqv type bov, its adjustable for hard "PSHHHTTT" or soft "pssssssssssstt" but it does wistle a bit if i let of easy on the gas. Its so loud ive made people jump off the sidewalk in fear for thier lives. hehehhe i love it...

The Intercooler i went on ebay and found a dude selling polished spearco cores with treadstone end tanks for about $450 very nice IC's and i made my own intercooler piping from raw mandrel tube from http://www.kteller.com. the best price i found,

and a big K&N air filter .

from there it depends on what kind of power your planning to make? Metal HG, fuel injectors, fuel management sys. larger throttle body. boost controll , search for bpu's. basic performance upgrades

as an addition to what joel says...downpipe is a must.. i have one on my 1jz, for bov i also have a ssqv, but if you want a quiet one...i know teh TiAL ones are adjustable..not sure how quiet they go...but i know you can adjust teh sound, intercooler is gonna be tough...if you can find a kit you're lucky... itll be easier to find one from the japanese tuner companies...they usualy have them ..but theyre a bit mroe expensive...and from what i know the piping does fit the front..unless u get the chaser kit...then ull have to do a little cutting...i made a custom intercooler kit well....custom piping that is... and depending on waht kind of car you want or how much power you want to make...will decide how your fuel management is gonna be setup...so let us know how you want the car to "behave"

So i need a downpipe. Do they make a specific one or do the flanges from the supra downpipe match? Cuz ill search on ebay for "87 supra" and i always get a bunch of downpipes coming up. But yea this will be more expensive than i thought i would. But moneys money. And right now i'm not worried about modification. I just want to be able to put my engine in and start it up and test drive it and be happy. Just like this --> And i probably will look like that if i hear it startup. After i get more money and after the engine is in, ill be asking for some good mods.

http://bicperformance.com/products.htm check that link out..those guys ahve a down pipe for a 1jz...i think its like $420...a lot of money but well worth it...my downpipe is custom its from a 2jz single turbo conversion kit, it works pretty nicely, but i had to modify it a little for the flanges to lineup, they were off by like an inch or somtin....im sure u can find a cheaper downpipe...mine probably came out to be $280 woulda been more but i did all teh labor myself so i did save myself money
