Injectors... 550+cc upgrade thought

So, I was just looking at higher flowing injectors on ebay & a thought struck me looking at certain Holden & other fitments, surely somebody knows this, what if any other model/make injectors fit our 7M-GTE?

I'm thinking surely provided the o-ring diameters top & bottom & impedance are the same, surely any top fed injector could be made to work without a huge amount of engineering? (just different plugs, fuel rail spacers & possibly different fpr setting)

Anybody have any thoughts on this? Just wondering as I'm thinking if I could find something little known that fits & is either 550cc or above OR cheaper to mod than stock injectors to a decent flow rate, then it'd be possible to pick them up for a better price :bouncy: and that's always good!

One of the FC model RX-7's had higher flowing injectors.. 520 or 550 I believe. You need to read up on it online though so you know how to properly identify them as another model uses much smaller injectors which look the same (might even have had the same part number if you can believe it). That's the only one I know of. Everything else is going to require a custom fuel rail and possibly some work on the head.

Huh? Where'd my reply go? :/

Strange, it was here earlier... am I going crazy? :O cba typing it again lol it was basically I'll have a look, maybe measure up scrapyard injectors, why do things the easy way yada yada yada nothing much

If you get used injectors do yourself a big favor and get them professionally serviced and blueprinted. It would suck to lose an engine because one was shot.

EDIT: No idea what happened to your other post, it wasn't deleted. Perhaps you accidentally posted it in another thread. Dunno.

Wow, 1600cc injectors http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/X6-High-fl...item3372c20898

Guess you'd need a fuel controller for injectors that big hahaha!

But I suppose the real question is, would anyone trust their engine to a set of $500 ish 1600cc injectors from china!?! (what's the difference between high impedance/low impedance by the way, would low impedance need a resistor inline to function?)

Just asked the seller if any flow/pattern paperwork comes with the injectors,:x: I'm thinking OK they're cheap Chinese crap but (and by no means am I definitely thinking of buying them.... yet!) I figure as returns are accepted & it's thru' paypal it may be interesting to get some & have them tested...

In my experience of Chinese/Taiwanese stuff the quality control is the only really lax thing & some stuff ends up being great and a massive bargain while someone else could buy the same thing & it's D.O.A.

No, you would need a standalone. Even if the fuel controller were capable of pulling that much fuel the modified data the ECU receives will cause the fuel map to shift (mostly correctable with the piggyback) and the timing map will shift significantly. There may be additional issues that I'm not thinking of at the moment.

Megasquirt anyone?

Also I guess 1600cc injectors would (despite the sellers assertions) cause crap low speed fuelling no matter what system you used as even the tiniest pulsewidth would be too much juice? It's a shame he doesn't seem to have any 550 ish units

That said, for the price I'm still half tempted to get a set & have them blueprinted "just in case" of any future desire to do a monster build...

I wouldn't run them in a daily driver... Or a weekend ride unless you're running a turbo which doubles as a tree chipper it's a poor choice.

That was exactly my thoughts, at the price just hold onto them for if that rain forest-eater ever materialises. TBH though I just spotted a pair of XJ750 seca's 10miles down the road so the money might go on one of them anyhow lol
