Question 1989 Toyota Supra Turbo

Please help!

I absolutely know nothing about cars but to turn the key and drive; however, I brought my sons car into to the shop to have the head gasket repaired and now the car will not go more than 20mph. Initially when the mechanic said the car was finished my son went to pick it up and it would shut off at 30 mph, then the mechanic changed the mass airflow sensor and now the car will not go over 20mph. Fuel injectors were checked, plug wires, radiator was changed, any suggestions? Thank you, Angela

Sigh.... seems we may be having a database error. This goes in the MKIII section. The tire commentary belongs in MKII. Hopefully the error message goes away now and the threads go where they belong.

Angela, it's been a good amount of time since this was posted, have you found the answer to your problems? In the MKIII FAQ section there is a thread on how to check and read diagnostic/error codes stored in the car's computer.

Angela? this thread's Paul11 isn't it?

Agreed, the diagnostic check needs to be done to see what codes are being shown up if any. (That said, the mechanic really should finish the job, if it won't do over 20mph it obviously isn't "done")

To be honest though I'd perhaps consider changing shops if he considers that to be fixed

If you can do the diagnostic check & report back the codes we'll have a stab at getting it purring... This link should show how to do the diag check http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar...ection=FI&P=23

The "SST" is just a piece of wire/paperclip or similar to connect the Te1 and E1 pins in the diag socket by the way, no need to buy one!
