Default race preping a r154

hey guys I know the r154 is a very robust and well designed tranny but it has its flaws like any street car can. mine is a daily driven car but I auto cross 2x a month and I have project money tucked away because in 3 years I plan on racing mine in pikes peak international hill climb. the first thing im going for is a 21 point roll cage and new garrett turbo, so after all of this I figured the tranny will be taking abuse so lets prevent problems before they surface.

the supra store sells this rebuild kit which looks real nice
http://www.suprastore.com/ulrbukitfsh.html

on top of this im wanting to buy a short through shifter from drift motion
http://store.driftmotion.com/static/i-bpm-202-07.php

and of coarse I would use a proper clutch that would handle 600 lbs of torque( im building this as a torque motor not a hp motor. im trying for 500 lbs of torque but plan on 600 to be safe)

the diff still grabs hard so im happy whith it, all else I can think is 1peice aluminum drive shaft(or at very least replace all the u joonts in my factory one)red line synthetics in tranny and diff, have the gear sets shot peened.

if any one else has any ideas how to make the tranny better I would like to hear it

I'd talk to the guys at MarlinCrawler.com. They deal more with trucks but know the R series transmissions completely.

I haven't been active on SF for a number of years for that very reason. A lot of ignorant people spewing a bunch of crap and those who are knowledgeable spend more time chest thumping and demanding milk money from the newbies.

Contact the folks at MarlinCrawler directly or post on their forum http://board.marlincrawler.com/ . It's not entirely their thing but they and their customer base have a real knack for finding weaknesses in drive trains and the R150 is a direct relative to the R154 and they have a lot in common. You could also check in with Aaron's crew at DriftMotion and see if anyone's posted anything over at SupraMania.

I think I once saw someone selling a 'race' rebuild kit but I can't for the life of me remember who. I do not know of anyone who has done anything more than a regular rebuild even for medium/high power applications. The R154 is a beast but once you get beyond its abilities then you probably need to look into swapping in something with a greater aftermarket parts availability.
