Automatic transmission fluid overfilled(somehow)
Hello, first off I would like to mention I am new here and this will be my first post. Now, for the story, the atf was low on my car(level showed to be at min). So i decided to add some fluid to the "dipstick"(for some reason my 86 supra doesn't have a actual dipstick, as I have read other forums and people stated there 7mge has a atf dipstick, but for some weird reason my car has a clear container with fluid in it with levels min and max to show how much fluid the transmission has. Is this considered the dipstick?) It says on it "fill with atf using dexron or dexron 2" so i was pretty sure that was where to put the atf in. So i did, expecting to have to put in at least a few quarts, cause the level read that the atf was at minimum. I put not even a quarter of a quart of fluid and it somehow is reading above the max. I am completely confused... I am no expert as this is my first time ever filling the transmission fluid( only had the for a few months now), but I know that it takes around 6 to 8 quarts to fill it, so a quarter of a quart should not have took the level to min. to well over the max level. Did I put the fluid in the wrong place? thats the only thing I can think of. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Posted in the wrong section. Please read the forum descriptions if you are uncertain where to post. FAQ forums are not for general discussions and are queued for approval before they're ever visible.
Post moved to the main MKIII section. I would sure like to see a picture of where you added the fluid. There is no clear reservoir for the transmission's fluid, just the power steering (N/A's is clear, turbo model's is metal), clutch master cylinder (on manual transmissions), and brake fluid.
