Help with my 1986.5. :)
Hello all, I was given a Mk3 Supra (1986.5). It was in pretty bad condition, specially the cosmetics, but bit by bit I am trying to fix the problems with it. :) I have changed the Speedo cables, the long and short one(broke on me in the freeway, I was stuck with 20mph I think), changed brake pads, spark plugs, and changed the fluids. Now onto the problems:
1. Whenever I drive at around 60-70mph and then stop at a red light, white smoke comes out of the side of the car. At first it was just small wisps of smoke but now it is getting more frequent and pronounced. I Googled about the BHG and I see no milky white stuff or oil mixed in coolant. But I do not see any puddles forming under the car. 2. Most of the hoses are cracked and old, where can I get hoses for my supra? Thank you. :) PS: This is my first car and I am not that good with anything car related, but I do want to learn. :) |
When you say “comes out of the side of the car “ is this right, left, back or front? Any smoke under the hood ? If so; it could be oil dripping on the exhaust manifold heat shield from a leaky distributer oil seal.
All hoses are available from Toyota in the UK not sure about the US, if not; Samco & many other companies offer a silicon alterative. |
Usually in the driver side and passenger side, I have never observed it come out of the rear, and when I open the hood there is no smoke. Thanks for the info, now I have an idea on what to look for when I try to fix it this weekend. :)
