Valve Stem Oil Seals
I had previously seen tips on replacing the Valve Stem Oil Seals without taking the head off . . . but since this site has been re-vamped I have done a search but can't find any . . .
I have a recon engine, but when fitting the new stem seals apparently several of them split . . so they bought 6 more. But one cylinder (No 6) still seems to now have a faulty seal (getting lots of oil sucked into the cylinder on de-celeration, and plug gets REALLY oily) So as it's just one don't really want to pull the head . . . how difficult is it to do this in situ? I know about putting rope down the plug hole and turning the crank to TDC to stop the valve dropping . . . but how hard is it to get the springs off/on and the stem seals off/on? Any tips from anyone who's actually done this would be very much appreciated! _________________ 1991 3.0i (N/A) Manual, Black Mica. Owned 6 yrs, Mint Bodywork, Daily Driver.
