I know its good to deck the block ,but depending on how bad the head gasket blow was and how hot the engine got it might not be warped if your head is only warped like 6 thousandths the block might be ok I didnt deck my block, I used a copper head gasket and arps, it seated nice

If a bhg is inevitable, what can you do to prevent it if you are still running stock with lots-o-miles? I assume an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I have an 87 NA, 127k miles. About to become my everyday ride due to unplanned medical bills :(

Replacing the HG on a Supra is no big deal. Get a HG kit, remember to keep as much attatched to the head as possible and pull it out as a unit (egr, exhaust manifold, lower intake, etc). If its a turbo, disconnect the oil and coolant lines at the block and leave the turbo on the manifold, just drop the front pipe. if you want to replace all the gaskets that come in the kit, its easier to do it on a bench than to dissasemble the parts on the car. If you have a moderate knowledge of cars, the job should only take about 1 day.
