Meguiars Plastx for tail lights and hard plastic
My hard plastic parts on the Supra were looking tired especially the wing mounted brake light so I was looking for a plastic polish to bring them back when I came upon Meguiars Plastx. It really works great on hard plastic like taillights and the black license plate surrounded and also the black vent louvers at the back of the Windows. The wing mounted brake light was very hazy and when I was done it looked much improved. Just don't apply too much pressure as you don't want to crackle the old plastic anymore than the sun has already. The vents at the back of the windows had some checkering and I thought that the polish would leave a white residue but it didn't. Good stuff to lay some love on your Supra. It cost about $6 at Walmart. I did the washer spray nozzles too. Its not made for painted surfaces and I would not use it on the thin rubber coated parts like window trim. I have been using SEM 39063 gloss black trim paint to make repairs to those areas and Toyota vinyl and leather protectant to maintain them. The Toyota dealers may still have the pump spray "vinyl and leather protectant" part no. 00289-1V00. Its good for window trim, mud flaps, and especially the interior vinyl and leather. Just don't use it on the foot pedals, too slippery.
I used some plastex on the clear gauge cluster areas using a small pad cut from a microfiber towel. After buffing with a clean microfiber towel. It looks clear as glass with no swirls or scratches. I would be careful near the black areas around the vents, clock, and trip reset. Last edited by Bru; 06-23-2015 at 03:36 AM. |
