Default Another new guy. With no idle

Gm everyone. Looks like I'll be wrenching on a 87 7mge manual. My nephew picked up. Paid $1600 USD. Has a jdm in it already. Should be about 75,000 miles on it but can't confirm. Solid body no rust high desert car so paint is gone. A good start to a fixer upper.

So to start the car won't idle. We are going to the basics first. Tune up done. Compression test good. New maf. So today I'm going to clean and inspect iacv and check vacuum. Egr held vacuum. And check for intake leaks. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks for letting me join

Wsup and welcome to the Supra life! Come back after your tune up is and other stuff is done and let us know what issues you may have then, and I'm sure we'll all be able to help. But as far as the JDM low mileage engine that's in there, was there any proof that this job has been performed, like pictures, receipts, etc...?

Welcome! Love my own '87, had her for only 2 months now.

Check/replace the fuel filter and check your fuel pressure. Can you keep her running with the throttle? TPS maybe? Not cheap ($100+ from Autozone), so try cleaning it first.

I'm doing that this weekend. Mine runs great but can suddenly drop during idle. Catches herself and picks up the idle again. So for me it's fuel filter, MAF cleaning, and vacuum line checks.
