E-Brake
I've got an 88 turbo supra with 120k miles. The guy I bought it from put a lot of upgrades (and money) into it, and one thing he did was put new brake calipers and rotors on it. The brakes (regular) work great, but my hand brake SUCKS! I pull it back all the way, and the car slows down a little. If I'm parked on a ten degree slope, the hand brake doesn't hold tight enough and the car slides downhill. How can I tighten the e-brake?

there may be an adjustment inside the car at the ebrake handle, but i bet the e-brake shoes are warn out. they ride inside the hub of the rear brake rotors like small drum brakes, there is an adjustment there too i believe, probly just needs new shoes installed.

yeah thats right.. but there is also another thing too... you need to jack up your car. n double check underneath the car n look for the two ebrake.. cable... maybe one of them is broke to... so that can happen to... so double check on that too... that will be great. let me know what you came out with alright.

But...the only way the "parking brake" shoe gets worn out is if someone leaves the brake on while driving. The system is really not very good at stopping the car, as the shoes are tiny. Look over all the cables, and you may want to pull a rear rotor and check the shoes to be sure. Under the simulated leather handle cover, there is a nut you can tighten on the threaded end of the cable.
Dealer item only(as far as I know). |
