Factory is 10-40w, but 20-50w is fine for summer when its hot alot. I always use 20-50w in everything with over 100k on the bottom end. 20-50w will help slow down oil consumption of leaks or smoking.

What's the reccommended minimum temp. for 20W50? It's not going to get below 0 degrees F, if below 15F at all this year here in Dallas.

i use 10W-30 b/c that's what my owners manual says....and i have about 37,000 miles on the original motor

All right, Joel was saying it's 10W40, supra_1 says it's 10W30... which is the accurate spec?

u can use 10W40....my owners manual recommends 10W40 for colder weather

And you are not stuck with synthetic just because it is in there. You can drain it and just add petroleum based oil if you want. You don't have to have a professional do some sort of magic cleaning to it to make it safe or anything like that.
