Headgasket questions
First of all i dont own a supra but a cressida. I figured this forum would know more about 7m's than some of the other toyota forums.
Anyways my question is im replacing a headgasket on my cressida but dont know what headgasket thickness i should get or brand. I think the metal headgasket is an overkill for the 7mge and i dont want to machine the block. I will machine the head though. So which headgasket brand and thickness should i get? Also should i get just the arp studs or the bolts too? |

When I did the head gasket on my 7MGTE, I used OEM Toyota head gasket, bolts, and washers. No machine work was done, all I did was clean the surfaces very well and torqued the head bolts in 3 passes to 75 ft/lbs. Car is not stock (bigger turbo, exhaust, etc) and I've had 0 head gasket issues since.
What I'm saying is that I think you'll be fine with OEM parts, as long as you clean the surfaces well, torque the bolts in the proper sequence, and to a more suitable torque spec
