Wiring connector questions, pre-89 and 89+ transmisisons
 

Got a question I'm having difficulty finding an answer to. Are there any differences in the wiring connections between pre-89 and 89+ automatic transmissions? I've got an '88 and have a transmission out of an '89 available if all the connection will plug up right. Thanks in advance for any information on this.

As far as I know, the transmission wire connections are the same (as long as you're sticking with the same transmission; a340e, w58, r154). I can't say that with 100% certainty, but I can't say I've come across any transmissions that didn't connect to the wiring harness correctly.

Excellent. I much appreciate that information, as I've been waiting to swap transmissions until I had at least some confidence that the wiring connections are the same on both. Thanks for chiming in.

Just wanted to follow up with you on this, as there is indeed no wiring difference that I could find. Plugs right in. Now, the extension housing (tailshaft housing) is different as the speedometer plug is on the opposite sides of the housing, and the shift rod is different, but wiring is the same.
