recently purchased '91
I recently picked up a '91 non-turbo manual car. The car was sitting for the last 10 years after the previous owner rebuilt the engine due to a rod knock and couldn't get the car to start again. So far I've jumped +B and FP and the fuel pump came on. I checked for power at the fuel pump relay with key on, didn't have power until jumped. The tach is jumping while cranking. I did get it to cough on brake cleaner to confirm spark.
Any pointers on where to go next would be great. |
still working with this, I've checked the grounds on the intake. I've checked the EFI fuse. checked continuity across CPS. I doubt the alarm is the cause, I bought the car without a battery. Both sides of the injector plugs are hot at all times. I used a my test light while cranking to see if the light goes out on either side, it does not. I checked for any fluctuating using a multimeter, reads 0 volts while cranking with the probes on either side of the injector connector. One interesting note is the previous owner grounded the knock sensor wire.

Have you confirmed the timing is correctly set? Sounds like you have spark and fuel, but maybe not at the right time.

Check the wire from the battery going to the starter. Inspect also the engine ground.
