Supra 92 1g-gte upto 300BHP ???
Hey guys im new to the site and im planning to get a 92 supra (its the closest i can get to a supra without breaking the bank) which i am planning to use everyday... the car is bloody heavy (stock) and i got killed by a modded skoda RS on my test drive  (not that Badly i mite add but even then) i think if i can get her up to 300 without getting my fuel consumption tooooo out of control i could hammer these posers...where should i start ???
also any specific problems that i should check for in th 1g-gte (60000kms) any part suppliers to india??? are the spare parts easily available??? how much should i set aside for maintainence??? |

Vivanbhatena,
I also have one of the elusive 1G-GTE engines, and as far as power goes it's pretty much how deep your pockets are. On stock engine internals, you can push around 350-400HP SAFELY. The inline six are notoriously tough engines since there are little opposing forces flying around. Have you noticed your car shake at idle? Nope, it feels like it's shut off. Vibrations are what kill a engine, (high RPM's) which is why the 1G and the 1JZ work so well. To answer your questions though; "i think if i can get her up to 300 without getting my fuel consumption tooooo out of control i could hammer these posers...where should i start ???" Fuel consumption gets terrible only when you activate the turbo's. Even with +500HP engines (like my old Chevy 350) you only consume more gas when there is more air introduced in the system. Drive nice, and you'll be good to go. (Except for the occasional Skoda spanking... >:D) Start upgrading essential things first. These being exhaust, CAI (Cold Air Intake), and if you want to be safe about it, brakes and suspension parts. These first couple of things won't gain you much in the way of HP, but it gives you the basis for all other upgrades. Then you'll want to move to things like boost controller, fuel controller/cutoff controller, bigger injectors, high flow fuel pump, larger MAF (or AFM conversion if that's what you have). As you gain higher HP, the greater the need for A/F control becomes. Expect to shell out $2000+ just for electronics. :( Wish I had better news... "the car is bloody heavy (stock)" Absolutely. I'm assuming you bought this car to have fun with, not as a family vehicle, aye? If so, then there are several Topics here on the forum and other forums that address the issue of weight. Most of these mods include taking out the backseat, spare tire, and replacing certain components with lighter materials like carbon fiber. As for parts suppliers actually IN India, I would have no clue. Spare parts are not rare, but take a bit of research to find. Maintenance!?!? Good god man, this is a TOYOTA you're driving!! :D These bloody things last forever. Anyways, hope that's enough info. Cheers, -=Littlestan=- |
Will a 1jz bolt into a 7m frame? (ma70) and same with the transmission bolt patterns, what will fit what?

yep you can get to the 300bhp mark ;)
and if you need stock replacement parts i can organise most of it here as 1G's are common here :) first thing, do your intake & exhaust... that'll free up a bit ;) |
i have the same delema...
