Default Exactly how often do you warp a head?

Seriously? Is this a common thing? If a gasket isn't leaking should you really be concerned anyways? Seems like it would be tough to warp a head.

It's extremely rare for that to happen on a engine that is running properly.

As in, it's never been close to the overheating point. Once the temperature of

your engine reaches a critical point, you can and WILL melt, burn, or warp

metal pieces that are not designed for such tolerances. Heads that are cast

iron will reach that critical point faster than aluminum one's since it cannot

dissipate the heat quickly enough.

Hope that helps,

Default Warped the Head at Around 100,000 miles

Hi Burn N' Up, I have a 1990 Supra (base) which has 137,000 miles. At around 100,000 miles I was driving towards a freeway tollboth and the car started to overheat.
I got the car off the road as quickly as I could but not quick enough. I ended up warping the head. I had a Toyota dealership rebuild the engine but the head part alone via Toyota cost $1000. This was not a cheap fix and now I am selling the car. Magbond65
