No electrical power when battery is hooked up
Hello,
I just bought this mk3 being told it was parked 12 years ago, and that the last time it was started it was running rough. I changed the plugs today which were likely the culprit and changed the oil. I then attach a battery via jumper cable and noting happens. Literally nothing turns on. It makes no sounds, no gauges move. So far I have checked the fusible link for the alternator in fuse box beside the battery, and I cleaned the engine to frame ground. I'm trying to trace the wire that goes from the battery to the kicker panel fuses, but I need to wait for an extra set of hands. What other things should I be checking? I thought i would be driving this car today, not solving an electrical dilemma haha. |

I dug into it further today. The small wire for the positive terminal is directly hooked up to this fan controller switch the PO wired in.
Isn't this wire meant to be attached to the fuse box in some way? |

Do you get interior lights when you open the door?
Headlights/side markers? Lack of power at the ignition could be the security system blocking it. |
