Problems With New engine.
Ok. first off i got a new engine for my 87 supra non turbo. I finnaly got everything hooked up tonight and tried to turn it over but.... When we started to crank it it wouldnt start and then it backfired near the exahust. Then it seemed like it backfired out the intake. I also smell exahust fumes from the intake hoses. I was wondering what could cause these problems. And if anyone could tell my the correct timing steps like crankshaft with the cam gears. and the distributor rotor timming. So if anyone can help me out that would be a great help thanks.... Ill answer any question ya got, like how i did stuff n put it all together Thanks again guys...

Without being there, its difficult to help. The timing (belt) must be perfectly set. The distributor must be set in the correct tooth. Everything else should be plugged in, and hooked up correctly.
I would go top to bottom, left to right. Make sure as best you can before trying again. You can damage things when it backfires. |
