Default Intake hose?

my supra is a 7MGE, and i was wondering if anyone has changed the intake hose coming from the MAF that leads to the intake manifold. i wanna change the ugly rubber tubing to something better looking, and that could possibly increase some performance.

I have heard that switching to a straight pipe does nothing to increase performance; it may increase the noise since you're removing the resonator. Two things you have to consider when getting one of the straight pipes is the fact that the inner diameter at the throttle body and the MAF are different; you would need an adapter / coupler to get a fit. Secondly, you have to make sure there is a spot for the intake air temp sensor in the tube - otherwise you have to drill one and throw a grommet in there.

I'm still looking for an intake tube myself... short of the full-blown kit (filter + tube), I'm having difficulty finding one for a n/a.

replacing the intake tube does nothing. the baffle that is in the stock intake helps keep the hot air away from the header.....notice it's above the header

you dont have to have that baffle in their, i wont really hurt anything. as far as i know they dont make any aftermarket intake tubes for the MKIII

Just try to keep the incoming air cool and have a nice free flowing air cleaner. I have noticed that the intake on the later engines that has its opening on the driver side, looks like that could be modified for more airflow. The one that comes over the top of the engine, 2 into one is pretty hard to improve, but I would like to see someone take the v- part off and put two butterflies on the two holes after the split. Twice the air would be nice.

ya i didnt expect it to improve the performance. i just dont like the overall look of the tubing itself. and i think it would be a nice looking upgrade to change the piping, even if it didnt do anything.

I stopped by PepBoys today, to kill time before a movie. They had some intake stuff there. Here is the co. website.
