How much HP can the internal parts in these engines handle with turbocharging?(I`m thinking of piston, rod, crankshaft, head etc.)

SCRAMJET 03-27-2006 06:47 AM

I've had both engines and i think the 1jz is obviously a better engine over all. Having said that, i miss the sound of my 7mgte. much tuffer than the 1jzgte...

Someone on another forum just put down 511whp, all stock internals other than metal HG and Arp studs (7m).

Yeah.

That was impressive.

The parts for the 1JZ are not necessarily hard to get a hold of...anymore. As the swap becomes more and more common, the parts that are not direct replacements w/ the 2JZ (It's a long list!) can be gotten by many companies in the states that stock these parts. Champion / Jay Marks Toyota stocks many 1JZ specific Genuine Toyota parts. I think you just have to be more resourceful in getting the parts that you need. Sometimes you have to trick the Autoparts stores into giving you the parts that you need and not bother w/ what car it is for. That being said...it's still not cheap. My total investment so far in this swap is $4,500 ish and I still have a short list of parts that I need to get still (clutch being the most costly of them). It really comes down to commitment and money. If you want to work w/ this engine, "you've got to ask yourself one question...how do you feel about full frontal male nudity?" (-Waiting) Just kidding, but you do need to know if it's worth that much money to you to have a JZ motor in your MkIII. With as much money that I will have invested in the swap ($5,000ish) I will be pushing about 300hp to the wheels...with that much money you could build a monster 7m and all the supporting hardware to have well over that much power.

Nice!

Nice post, very informative.... and the joke was indeed funny. =P

Troyota 03-29-2006 04:25 PM

Thanks...I wasn't sure if the joke would come across well, but I decided to run w/ it anyway. Now I'm glad I did. I don't post too often, but I try and only chime in when I have something remotely intelligent and somewhat helpful to say. <---which isn't very often, hence the low post count. ;)

Do yoy know how much HP the internal parts in a 7mgte can handle? I`m considering bying me a 1JZ engine to build on, but since the 7m engine is cheaper, maybe that is an option. If it can handle alot of power of course...

dcrusupra 03-29-2006 09:46 PM

around 600HP

If you bothered to read this thread you could answer your own question...
