7m vs 1jz
what are the pros and cons of the two engines and which one do you think is better over all

similar power can be pulled from both engines, but the jz will take it for longer. the m series block has been around for 30? years now, so is getting a bit long in the tooth and should really be put out to pasture in my opinion. however toyota_guru is right in that the 7m's are cheaper and more readily available, so when you blow something, it would be easier to find a replacement.

Better overall engine, not taking into account price, i would say the 1jz. 7Ms are old, but simple maintenance is all it takes to keep them running, the internals are strong, its a 3 litre, it has a lot going for it... On second thought, i cant decide now which i like more.. lol What a waste of a post!

mans got to know his limitations... mines cash... 7M all the way...:bouncy:

Yeah...
I think I'll have to go with it too, because of that.

Hrm..
Did your 1JZ come from a Soarer or from a Supra? All the ones I can find here came from Soarers, and I heard it doesn't fit as well as the one that came with the Supra, you have to make more "custom" stuff to put it in there.

ya, i saw a used jdm 1jz in the paper here for $3500, i can get (4) 7mgte's for that price...or (2) running cars. hahhaha but if i had the extra cash, i dunno, :dunno:
|
i haft to go with the 1jz because i own both.... but if you replace the headgasket on the 7m its not a bad choice but the 1jz can handle alot more power if you asked me.
