mine is the same way. a lot of cars have handles like that. my friends truck has it, and my other friends 240 has the same kind of handle. just the way it was made. maybe its like that to keep you from accidently locking your door when you dont want to. i dunno. haha.

Yea. I have an 87 and both of my doors do that. It's a minor inconvenience. I'd do away with it if it was less than a dollar to fix. Any more than that i wouldn't do it. Well maybe lol.

It's setup like that so you are conscious of the act of locking the door. Many a person has accidently locked the door on cars that don't have this feature. In fact, a fello just did it the other day. The car was running, and it was blocking our smog test bay. Fortunately we have the lockout tools to open any vehicle.

my 88 wont lock unless the car is off and key is out of ignition. you can try all you want to lock it but it unlocks it self. the only way to lock myslef out is to leave the keys in it or lose them
