Smoke on start up
I've had my '90 turbo for about 3 years now, ever since I bought it blows quite a serious puff of smoke on the first start up in the morning. Once it's under way it doesn't smoke or use too much oil. Is this likely to be valve seals or possibly oil leaking from the turbo?

it sounds like valve guide seals to me..
yea i will agree, it seems like its teh valve guide seals...i think this was posted somewhere else

talking of smoke, my 90 turbo started to smoke liek crazy last night ans today was even worse, it doenst seem to have lost any power though and theres no knocking sounds, colud this also be the valve stem oil seals or a fu*ked turbo, when i bought the car it gave a puff of smoke on down change, now its all the time, i was planning on doing head gasket anyway, my worry is that it might be the pistons? any ideas?

what color smoke? that sounds like it could be the turbo oil seals to me?? :( does it smell sweet like antifreeze? any loss of oil or coolant..
its got a bit of a blue tint to it, and yeah it does smell kind of sweet, oil seems ok, but i need to flush the coolant in the engine coz the rads all full of rusty residue.
uuuuu if i's a white smoke that smells sweet, watch your temp very close, could be your head gasket...like joel was probably about to say
i think not only joel, but pretty much everyone that has experienced it would post hte same thing...watch teh head gasket
