i am doing the 7mge to 7mgte turbo conversion on my 86 mk3. the only engine i can find is a 7mgteu. my question is, does this engine exist? or is a mistake by the seller. if its legit what is the difference between this and the 7mgte?
thanx for any help |

not intirely sure, but i think the U was originally for something that was just starting to come in on motors, think possibly fuel injection. as almost all motors nowadays run fuel injection of some form, the U was dropped, and now most motors are known without it. there is an engine known as the 3sgelu, which the L, and possibly the U stand for emission control. the motor itself is identical (block, head, and all internals) but there is a slight difference in the manifold and possibly ecu. (thanks for that info L).
so yeah, in short, the motor is the same as a normal 7mgte. |

yeps they are the same motor
i would suggest that you do the head gasket before you put it in... get the head and block cleaned and skimmed if necessary get a new stock gasket and arp head studs and torque it to 75ft lbs at least then you won't suffer the dreaded bhg
