I know that there are two types of manual transmissions for the 86.5 to 92 Supra's, but I was curious about the strength of the automatic trans. Are there two types of these also to cope with the extra torque and power of a turbo engine, or does the one type handle the power just fine? I was just curious because I have a good auto trans when I did my engine/transmission swap.
If I ever got a turbo with the auto tranny and decided to boost the power, can you just hold the pedal to the floor and let it do all the work for you? Missing a gear in a high horsepower car is not fun and I have done it a few times in my manual/NA car. Just curious about it though. I don't have any car in mind yet, but if the opportunity comes up it would be nice to know and I know there must be a few out there with extra horsepower connected to the auto trans. Thanks Russ |
