Intake Manifold Spacer Group Buy!

Hey I figured i'd go ahead and start collecting names. Once we have 20 we all pay in, probably with paypal, and i'll place the order... that is if you trust me >=D lol. In the event that i'm not allowed to start a group buy perhaps Supra Girl will pick it up?

Guesstimated price was 100$ give or take plus what seems to be 6$ or so says Joel.

The idea is that you distance the intake manifold and throttle body from the head to prevent the heat of engine operation from transferring to the incoming air. You replace your head to intake manifold and manifold to throttle body gaskets with these spacers and gaskets. Averages sound around 6-8hp for smaller engines than the 7M. We should be rippin.

even if you do a 2jz style FFIM, it uses the same configuration runners as far as mating to the head right?

j3pz 12-27-2005 05:49 PM

that is true, didnt think of that. next excuse is... i need an engine first...

sounds like a plan you guys have got ;)

when you apply a "gauging interest thread" on other forums tho be sure to add in the original thread and don't forget to give them reasons why they would want/need this item ;)
helps ya get more ppl

good luck with it

p.s. for now this is a gauging interest thread only.... when the numbers are reached you will need approval from a moderator k

Is anyone a member of any other forums that you could start posting and linking this site?

Burn N' Up 01-09-2006 08:06 PM

Starting to think not enough people are interested guys.

suprra_girl 01-10-2006 11:36 AM

hows the thread going on supramania?

joel w 01-10-2006 05:46 PM

it kinda died out, seems there may be some negitives to the gaskets not mentioned..

suprra_girl 01-11-2006 12:41 AM

oh really?

what did they point out?

joel w 01-11-2006 01:17 AM

ohh just that its not really a new product, its been tried before. it may get brittle?

IJ says "There are a few downsides to using it from memory, You need to reengineer the studs/bolts so they're isolated from the Manifold as they'll transfer the heat you're trying to stop as well as in time it goes brittle and 1 backfire can crack it and cause a leak http://www.supramania.com/forums/ima...lies/frown.gif."

for the price, it just seems like a hassle and problematic?

born2drv 01-11-2006 03:43 AM

how would you re-engineer the bolts to prevent heat transfer through them? use rubber bolts? LOL

I guess you could use longer bolts with a thick rubber washer or something on the end right?

joel w 01-11-2006 04:11 AM

ya i was not sure but i think you got the idea right...
