HI. I'm new to this forum. I just thought that this would be the best place to ask this question. Should I trade my 1993 525i for an 89 Supra Turbo? My bimmer has 225k miles on it and is mechanically sound, the supra that I want going to get has 95k and is in a good condition. How reliable are these cars, and how long do they last? (I know that the 5-series can easily go over 300k, but they are very expensive to mod. I'm talking $1200 for a cat-back exhaust)

well here's an interesting one
yes the supra is cool... i would get one over a beema anyday but............. you will not get the reliability from a supra that you would from your beema well not until you've done a few things if you get the 89 supra i would save up the $$ and do all the machine work necessary on the head and block and install a new head gasket with arp head studs... then at least your head gasket is reliable... make sure it is torqued to 72ft lbs the supra is alot cheaper to modify than your beema by the looks of it but do watch the modifying bug hehe... it will take you victim if you want a reliable supra replace all water hoses... get a radiator company to flush your radiator, new hg, new water pump, thermo, rad cap etc etc then your engine should be fairly sound then all you have to worry about is drivetrain breakages :P (which really don't happen often hehe) its really up to you... do it properly and you'll have reliability

thanks for you comments. It also seems strange to me that a car from '89 has 95k miles.

well, I decided not to trade, because the BMW is more valuable and rare. However, I will buy the supra whe summer comes.
