Default newbie questions

i am new to supras and just cars period, i was all into the whole 4 wheelin thing and i currently have a toyota celica and jeep wrangler. i am starting to get into the sports car scene and this summer looking at buying a 87 to 92 supra, i really like these cars and here good things about them. my questions are: are these cars reliable if you put a lot of upgrades on them, i am going to get the turbo version. how fast are they really? would it be a good car to do autocross with? how is the gas milage, handling, acceleration, comfort, i am 6,4 so will i be able to fit in one? what is a good price? i know these are all basic simple questions i should know. anything helps

thanks

o, and another thing i was wondering, i dont like the flip up headlights and was wondering if they make any king of kit, iv heard of the kit called 'fixed headlights' or something like that, do they make them for these years??

thanks

The engines are reliable so long as you take care of them. One of the most important things is oil. The engines are very unforgiving to low oil levels. Also installing a MHG and torqueing it down to 80-90ft lbs is the first mod you should do before you start to upgrade.

I beleive these cars fit tall people comfortable to, I'm 5'10' and there is tons of room up and back. Look for an 89-92 turbo with less than 100k miles. You should expect to pay between 3500 and 6000 for a good turbo car from those years. Gas mileage for me is 16 city 23 highway. As for acceleration, they arent that fast stock. Once you free up the exhaust the car comes alive. Auto crossing should be enjoyable with a proper suspension setup. They are heavy cars so they are more difficult to toss around on a tight track, but many people do track em. This is a very comfortable car to drive, long trips are very pleasant. Good luck!

there arent any kits that i am aware of. you can have a custom job made. there are others that have done this. im about 6'1 and have no problem with being comfy. my bro is 6'7 and has no prob in it. and my seat still has about 6-7 inches left to move back.
edit: as for speed, my NA is all stock, has old hoses, oil leak, exhaust leak and it can still get up to 120 no problem
