i have a 87 supra w/turbo and i was wondering by shimming the waistgate does this add a lil more Hp? and how how can i turn the boost without hurting the motor

Yep, shimming the wastegate will give you more HP.
The waste gate will not open as easy and allow you to increase your boost.

Most would rather just get a MBC (manual boost controller) though.
An MBC is pretty cheap...like about $30 shipped.
