tranny/ 1 or 2 jz fit in?????

will a 1 or 2 jz tranny fit into a 89 with no mods or will i have have to use a 7m tranny

planing on doing a swap try to learn trannys right now

7m and 1jz tranny are the exact same. The N/A tranny is the W58 and the turbo tranny commonly used on the 1jz is the R154. The 2j usually has the 6 speed off of the MKIV's.

so will all of them bolt right up into a 89 with no problem? will they fit

The six speed will bolt up to the 2jz but will not fit in the tranny tunnel without lots of cutting, also the stock twins on a 2jz require firewall smashing. The R154 will work with all three 2j, 1j, and 7m. For the R154 to bolt onto the 1j or 2j you need a 1jz bellhousing.

wait, can u fit a 2jz tranny on a 7mgte motor???????

kwnate 02-12-2006 05:36 PM

I'm sure you could, you'd need a custom adapter plate and clutch im sure... That would probably cost about $4000 to do....
