Timing Advance?
 

Hi,
I live in hawaii and have a 89 7mgte supra turbo...yay :-)
Anyway i would like to advance the timing, i run only premium fuel....
can i take it past 15btdc? If so how far? whats the MAX?
im not sure what the factors are.... like i said i use premium fuel only and
push about 11-12 psi on the stock turbo The compreshion has droped midly
becouse of a 2mm metal head gasket, lemie know if u need more info

Also how much power gain is possible here?

Too much timing not good.
 

I run 15*. It is 'initial timing'. I would not run more than that. The computer will advance the timing as needed depending on need.

Pinging will happen under certain conditions when the timing is too far advanced, then the timing will be retarted by the computer.

Advancing the timing does not 'increase' the actual HPs. It does, to some extent, put the HPs you do have to use a bit sooner.

Too much advance will cause a miss at idle.
