Engine removal questions...
Removing my 7mgte. Wiring harness that runs underneath the intake manifold. Did you guys take off the intake manifold, then unplug the wires from the injectors & other stuff? Or did you guys somehow do it without removing it?
|
You will need to at least take off the intake plenum to get to the injector wires.
|
yeah, that's what it looks like i'm gonna have to do. i just didn't want to start taking stuff off now before i pull the motor. i'd rather remove stuff on the stand. no firewall to fool with. thanks.

you should take the harness out with the engine and undo the clips once its out. i learned this the hard way. i undid all the clips, push the harness to the side, began pulling the motor w/ the tranny, then suddenly one of the hooks bent, fell back in the engine bay and scraped all up against the harness.
taking the harness out isnt that hard, but then agian my engine was already out... |
yea ^
drop the glovebox, take out black plastic cover, unplug from ecu and other plugs, pull through hole and leave the wiring harness with the engine then just take off intake manifold and fuel rail as one and put it aside, no annoying removal of lots of wires :) |
well, i'm just going to go ahead and leave the harness in the car. my luck i'll ruin something trying to pull the harness through the hole. sounds silly, but true. this is going to be a slow process for me. i'm in no hurry to rebuild this motor... since the car has been sitting since 2002. yeah, it's been a long time. BTW, do you think my fuel lines are gummed up? i guess i'll just upgrade the lines when i do my fuel mods.
