Power Tips
Hey how's it going? I'm new to this forum & I just got myself a 89 MK3 N/A Supra very clean car but not fast. I had a 93 Preulde VTEC before this & now I'm missing it. My friend has a 97 MK4 Twin Turbo & talked me into getting one & I'm not loving it right now. He said wait till I get the turbo but I want something's now. What can I do besides intake, headers, exhaust.

NOS! Better intake and better exhaust. I would love to see a set of 3 sidedraft Webers on the car. Cut about a thousand lbs out would help too. More compression, better cams and pistons. The intake seems so restrictive, bigger valves might help too. How about a Chevy 350. I think the running gear could handle that kind of power.
I bought a turbo after the N/A and it really is so much nicer. I can't imagine how nice it would be with all the bigger goodies on it. Someday.......... Russ |

Dont waste money on the NA if you're going turbo in the future. Performance wise NA cost more dollars per HP. The supra is heavy and smoother than the prelude. There performance is similar on the street only the Supra is smoother so it feels different. The supra is a much better car all around. Good luck with the turbo swap, and nice car!

Yeah if you wanted turbo shoulda never bought N/A in the first place. Second, the MKIII and MKIV have two things in common.
#1 They are both Supras #2 They are both made by Toyota Huge difference in weight, handling, speed, engine, exhaust, intake, everything is different, so try not to compare your supra to his. Not to shatter your dreams but understand the MKIII was designed as a Grand Touring car, not a zippy rice rocket. It won't come flying off the line without some decent work cause its a heavy dog. |
