Starter problemo
Ohk, I have a python security system with 'fail safe' ignition. Yesterday I set off my alarm by hitting the panic button on accident and couldnt shut it off other then turning the key in the ignition. Everything is disabled im pretty sure, or disarmed i should say... and my electricity and power works fine. I turn the key and nothing happens. What would this be? Starter? If so, is that something i can replace myself?
Thanks in advance |

Yea thats what i meant... But I talked to the installers at Circuit CIty (where I work) and they helped me over the phone and everything should be disarmed. I think that it may just be a coincedence?? i dunno

Open the trunk with the key, lock the doors and unlock it with the key? That usually resets the stock alarm, not sure about an aftermarket alarm tho.

Ok. Well, the ignition and the starter both get power. But the ignition still wont even attempt to start the engine. I think maybe its the RELAY somewhere. Becasue I hear no clicking whatso ever from the lower kick panel fuses/relays. So I dont think its the security system. We tried connecting the two starter wires and nothing turned over.
This is really starting to piss me off. The installers think its the car and my mechanic thinks its the security system. Toyota is a last resort. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone know where the ignition/starter relays are? Thanks |

The starter relay, if I remember, is on the passenger side kick panel. You'd have to remove the plastic cover (there is a nut on a stud that holds it in) and the junction block is along the right under the glovebox. If I recall correctly, the OEM starter relay is a green relay, four pins, square in shape. I'd post a link to the TSRM, but they're down at the moment. I know it's listed in the Body Electrical section.
