New to the forum have some questions...long
Hello, I have fell in love with the Toyota Supra MKIII!!! I notice it the other day in the Audi forum. I am an owner of a Audi A4. I have made some mods on it, like suspension, rims, exhaust, intake, and other things (I like keeping it classy). But one of the members has two supras MKII and MKIII, but I love the MKIII. I have search around the web and I keep finding more things that makes me wanna get one and work on it. I'm good with wrenches, I have some equipment, and i have done things like the TB, rack and pinion, brakes, bearings, clutch and regular maintenance on the Audi. So I think I'm capable on working on the supra.?. First is where to look for one? Is there a difference between the years and which one does everyone recommends? What are some of the issues with the these cars? I will be getting a Turbocharged for sure.
Thanks Audi Virus |

89-92 are better looking IMO! Better taillights, better spoiler, slightly lower suspension and more attractive interior, like the gauge cluster and steering wheel. The front bumper looks good from any year, but I prefer the 89+. Check this forum and other forums for cars for sale. They are more likely to be taken care of than others (in most cases). That being said, I got mine off of autotrader... There are a few problems that plague the 7m, the headgasket was not torqued enough from the factory causing most to blow headgaskets before 100k. Replace it with a metal headgasket, arp hardware torque it down and you're good to go. Oil level is very important as well, I spun a bearing on my old car and had rod knock too... Other than that, you're good to go! Make sure its a five speed of course.

i'd say get the 91 or 92 because those are the last years of the MKIII's with the minor changes done to them. that's what i think and of course i own a 1991

i personally like the 86-88 front bumper with 89+ steering wheel and indicator stalk
89-92 has a wholeeeeeeeeeeeee 2hp more 89+ lights are the sweetest lights... get rid of those pre 89's if you get an 86-88 hehe check for sale forums on supramania.com, here and supraforums.com you may get lucky (and if you do decide to replace the hg with a metal head gasket don't forget to machine the head and block surfaces )
