A/C question
I have an 87 turbo and an 87 N/A. The N/A's A/C stopped working, but it was just a fuse. I thought it might have been the dash unit at first though for some reason and tried a few different ones I had. They all worked fine as far as speeding up the engine when the A/C was turned on and once I replaced the fuse all was good.
Now my Turbo is another story. If I turn on the dash A/C button, nothing at all happens, so I tried the other control boxes and they all reacted the same, nothing happened. If I hot wire the compressor it works just fine. When I got the car the A/C wasn't woking because of a bad compressor. I replaced it and charged the system. Is there a fuse for the A/C or another controller I am missing? The same fuse in the N/A is working in the turbo, but the panel doesn't say A/C fuse, neither did the N/A panel for that matter. Any clues out there? Thanks Russ |
I think i've got the same problem with mine - although the heater doesnt work either (or at least the blower motor). I've noticed that from the manual, there are about 4 fuses and two control units for the A/C and they all seem to do different things...
Check the Passenger and Driver side kick panel for blown fuses - otherwise i can only surmise that it might be one of the relays thats gone. |
I have had my car for almost 4yrs now, and my AC only worked for 1 summer :(. Sucks for me though, the only way I can fix it is going to a junkyard or recharging it. But I have to go to the states to recharge it, because apparantly the old style AC was banned in Canada about 4years ago or something....haha.

Thanks. I have been adding R134 and it seems to be holding, just not enough yet. I am hoping that once I get the pressure up that the pressure sensors will kick in and let the A/C run. My daughters 87 supra works great and I think mine should too.........lol. Oh well, I will keep after it.
