My supra was easy to find. My cousin actually had bought it. I first saw it when i was 15 covered in snow. i cleared most of the snow off and fell in love with it right away especially after i sat in the driver seat its like a lazyboy!!!! After years of him trying to convince me not to buy it cause he lost the title and never got it transfered in his name i called the dmv and they rushed me a title in my name!! after that i bought it and havent had ne regrets yet.

Took me about 3 weeks to decide on mine. I had driven my 73 Celica for 14 years, and I decided after a 1800mile trip from NM to OR, that I wanted to get something more modern. I sold the Celica (got $2300 for her, and it was worth every penny). I started looking for new cars at that point. I had a short list of Supra, 3000GT, and Grand Prix GTP.
After another week of searching I was finding that I could get the Supra for less money than the other two, and I am just a Toyota fan, so I made the Supra my car of choice. I only wanted white, had to be Targa, and I preferred non-turbo. Found an 86.5 on craigslist in Eugene (45miles south of me) and got the guy to send some extra pics of it. I decided to drive down and look at it. The guy was commuting from Roseburg to Eugene every day in it (about 100 miles round trip) so I knew the car had to be road worthy. There were a few things I would have preferred not to have to fix, (like a cracked windshield and it needed tires badly), but overall it was a solid car. the guy was asking $2400 and I offered him $2000 right on the spot. I had to borrow my sister to get it home, but its been something of an obsession ever since.

Audi, have you found one yet? If you haven't and don't mind a little work I stumbled upon one hell of a deal. Go to google and type in "first who see's it will buy". If I lived closer, I would be all over this.
See my next post for the link. (below the next 2) Last edited by suprasforlife; 06-24-2006 at 11:10 PM. |

I agree...links are always better...because just if it was there one day, doesn't mean it will still be there even an hour later.

In my case, I was out with my kids and wife having dinner at pizza hut, since we were waiting for the chow, I decided to pick up the "thrifty nickel/penny pincher" and as usual turned in to the cars clasified and ran in to a the ad that read " 1987 toyota supra turbo for sale "
needs engine work, $500 the funny thing was that I wasn't even looking in to buying a car since I was still working on my nissan mini....see picture.. right after dinner we took of to see the supra, and to my surprise the car had a set of decent wheels and tires, the body was in very good shape exept for the paint that somebody tryed to spray and turned out to start peeling. the owner told me that one day he was driving the car and the engine started knocking and imediatelly he turned it off...such a lye....he was claiming that the engine would turned and that at no point in time it had seized, he even tried to help start the engine by jumping the battery but it never turned, i thought it would also be a stuck starter. anyways I took the car home knowing that I would have to rebuild the engine or buy a JDM. four months past and the warmth of the spring time sun came before I laid a single finger on the car, after pulling the engine out I found out what was the cause of the knock the previous owner was talking about. A huge crater under the intake manifold anyways, I see it this way.........I bought a set of rims for $500 dollars and I got a supra turbo with it. |
