New to the world of the Supra...
I just picked up a very good condition '88 Mk3 today for the tidy sum of ?500. It's a N/A 7M-GE version, and although its seriously impressive so far, i just have a few questions.
Firstly, the clutch. How expensive is it to have replaced? I'm not sure mine needs it, but the clutch pedal is a lot lighter than a lot of other cars i've driven, and the last time i had a car with a clutch that light, it was on the verge of complete death. Could be just me though.... Second, the voltmeter has no backlight. I'm guessing this is just a bulb issue - seeing as all the other gauges light up fine (the gauge works, just you cant see it in the dark!). How does one go about replacing the bulbs on these? That's pretty much it for the moment i think! TIA |

I'm not quite sure about the Supra clutch as I have an auto, but my RX-7's clutch was light when it had air in the lines. Check the fluid on it? When's the last time you bled it? Leaks in the lines?
In regards to the bulb replacement, you'll have to take apart the gauge cluster. There are numerous screws that holds it into place. Some people will tell you that you have to take the steering wheel off to get it out; it makes it easier, but I've gotten the instrument panel out without taking the wheel out. Bulb should be a simple fix once you get the gauge cluster removed.

Yeah i only just realised that its a hydraulic clutch - i'm so used to cable clutches that i hadnt thought it might just be my unfamiliarity with it.
As for the voltmeter - i'll see if i can sort that out today - although its not a major problem. Theres a new thing though - the heater and aircon doesnt seem to work at all. Its the pushbutton climate control type, and although i can hear the servo's moving the various things inside the unit, the fan motor doesnt seem to work at all. I've tried just about every combo of switch positions, but i cant hear anything, and theres no air coming out of the vents at all. I'm going to check the fuse box later on, as my interior light seems to be unworking as well - i just hope it isnt anything expensive. Thanks for the reply though |

Doesnt appear to be anything wrong with any of the fuses at all - which is a little odd.
Is there anything like a haynes manual for the supra? |

Try this out for the manual:
http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/library/TSRM/index.html As for the A/C problem, I think there is another thread in the forums that have addressed it... trying searching. If not, I'll bet someone out there knows about that one, as I can't remember the problem / fix associated with it.
