changing gear oil
got my car up on jack stand ready for new motor and i wanna put synthetic gear oil in the transmission and just wondering wear the drain plug is and where to fill it. thanx for ne help
Hey! Looks like you have 5 speed manual transmission right? as I remember from my manual trany supra I drained fluid from the back of the trany where the drive shaft goes and filled it thru shifter.... its a long proccess...
great sounds like tons of fun......well since i've made the short shifter mod then i know my way around the top near the shifter. thanx for the help.
Whats a good oil to use for the tranny and gear? Maybe something synthetic.
Redline MT-90
yah synthetic gear oil is alot better gives it more secure shifts
What do you guys use to get that oil into the tranny and differential because from what i see the fill plug is on the side.
Not sure about the differential, but just take the shifter out of the tranny and pour in thru the top. Or u can use a hand pump and a syphon and put it in thru the side for a little forearm workout.

What the shit? Drive shaft? Why don't you just unscrew the drain plug with a 6 POINT socket AND BRAKER BAR or 6 POINT box end. It's on the Passenger side of the tranny. Then fill through the top. Redline MT-90 fo sheezy. hooray! And use a poperly sized metric wrench, you'll want to shoot yourself in the head if you strip that drain plug, its soft so don't wrench it back on ridiculously tight either.

how much fluid do you put into the r-154???
