Do you have a picture of it? I've heard about it but never seen a picture of it.
ok, you're forgiven:dance:
i think i've heard of them being placed somewhere at the tailpipes, but can you imagine the turbo lag due to the extremely long piping from the turbos to the intake?

Here is and article on the rear mounted turbos. http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...48_0502_turbo/ |
hummmm.......
Say bye to your engine if that filter hits water.
i actually seen a car with this mod , turbo lag is a problem so they put e-rams on the piping to speed up the air velocity from the back to the engine, spool time isnt really affected either,,, but they only did this because the car was only for the track ,,
if you are still planning to drive your car on regular streets, i dunt suggest this, unless you wanna buy a new turbo every two weeks, from all the rocks and debris thats gonna destroy it |
This may be off-subject but has anyone ever dealt with Pro Racing Sim software? Especially Dyno Sim Advanced? i Built a single turbo 427 stroker motor and it showed that i could get 743 hp @ 5000 rpm and 802 ftlb @ 4500 rpm. That sounds pretty impresiive and supposedly these programs are within 10%. Also will the toyota trans stand up to that? Will the Rear-end?
(We are thinking of a local open road challenge / road race.) Not drag racing. plz post reply. thanks! |

soiunds like a lot of work and money... tt in the back, new suspension, etc. its not efi is it?
just search for sts turbo. They make turbo kits for almost every popular american sports car. Thye are in the back. And no you dont need new suspension, Im sure there is plenty of space to fit a turbo under the car somewhere. And i would run the filter in the rear fender space or something. They say they "solved" the lag problem but it would have to lag more than a turbo in the front, just by physics. Im sure it might not be too bad they way they have it set up, although itd def be more than in the front. Why doesnt someone just put a turbo up front where the intercoolers uusally go? But off to the side? would make sense to me.
im running custom intake and exhast pipes and im not going to need to get a new suspension except for what i need to replace just because it is old. and im thinking about also making some kind of sheild to put around it to block the crap coming off the tires. And with the question of why u would put the turbos in the back. it helps on the heat under the hood and it will help me even out the weight of the car. the engine i have right now is carberated and what im going to do is take the intake manifold off the bottom of a fuel injection and make my own elbow to come from that to my throttle body.
what kind of motor is it? you can just use a good intake manifold and run an adapter on top of it for an elbow or throttle body.
well it is a ford 351W that i am thining of stroking out to a 427. But i got a dyno sim on my computer that i used and i DEstroked a motor and now im thinking of doing that instead. when you destroke a motor it moves the rpm range up and i got 790 hp @ 9000 rpm. which would sound pretty sweet.
