Default HELP!!! My Hood is stuck closed!!

ok so i went to open my hood, pulled the latch, heard the click, but the hood didnt pop open as usual. Its done this once before, but it opened by playing with the hood a little. I already know that i need to replace the hood latch, but i still need to get into the hood before i can do that (i also need to put some oil in [stupid head gasket] so i can drive to work). Im thinking i can get to the latch from under the car, but if that doesnt work, then i could pry it somehow...but i dont want to damage the fender or any of the other components...if anyone knows another way...PLEASE let me know...

oh yeah shes an 87 7MGE

Use a strong plastic knife-you might try wrapping it in cloth. Then put a small coil spring on the latch mechanism to assist with popping it up against the safety catch for the future.

It's very possible that all you need to do is to lubricate the latch... keeping your latch lubed is important because it could cause you to bend the hood if you aren't careful. I've never had the problem of a stuck hood before... I've always maintained the latch... so I really wouldn't know how to get it open. Best of luck though!

Do a search on this forum, because this issue came up before, and it was a long thread. The answer is probably there.
