water is actually not required to lube anything in the engine or make the engine do certain things....
water is only required once the engine reaches a certain temperature so that it "stays" at that temperature so you can safely run an engine for a min or so with no water and it wont generally have ill effect do you know if the oil was actually coming out of the motor or out of the exhaust of the turbo? take off the turbo and see if there is oil in the exhaust manifold... if there is i would say your rings are gone... if there is no oil before the turbo but is after get your turbo rebuilt and you should be happy why won't your car start?
