Default Vertical Fitting Under Throttle Body-1990

Anyone know what the vertical rubber hose fitting right under the throttle body connects to? I can't find any rubber hoses that fit it, can't see it (if it has one) on my other (1988 Turbo) Supra.

A 1987 service manual *seems* to say it's a water hose fitting--1 of 2 that go to the idle speed control (ISC) valve.

I see it plain as day on your car, but I can't find it on mine. Not on the car, my parts shelves, or the 1988 either. But it's obvious that my 1990 HAD the hose on there, because the metal fitting is clean and shiny.

Can you determine where the other end goes? The ser. man. says something about a "water pipe"--a real big help.

Found the hose--had to use a mirror to see it. Then had to pull the plenum back off to get to it. What a pain this car is.

True, but I don't know why the gas mileage is only around 21 mpg. I have never worked on a more difficult car before. It obviously wasn't meant to be serviced much, at least with the engine in the car.

I'm making a few changes to make the turbo-side a bit easier to reassemble. There is one stud on the downpipe that is very hard to reach and turn so I'm going to cut it off, drill it out and replace with a stainless bolt/nut.

I had planned on welding or brazing some fittings on the turbo oil lines, but now I think I'll just braze them back w/o the fittings. I'm not sure that it would be much easier to turn the fittings as to get to the bolts in the block. If the temp. wasn't so high in the area I use a length of good viton tubing so I could pull the turbo easily, but it's just too hot there.

BTW, the small oil-supply line is carbon steel but the big corrogated return is stainless.

After I re-lifted the plenum, and seeing how difficult it would be to attempt to reinstall that little 8 mm water hose to the "vertical fitting", I used a long piece of 5/16" fuel tubing and ran it down the side of the block. I used a double-ended barbed metal connector to join the two rubber hoses several inches under the plenum, where it's fairly easy to reach AFTER the plenum is back on.

I now realize that stripping the head bare while in the car was a real dumb thing to do. While I would NEVER do this BHG repair again this way, I'll have to think about how difficult it would be to pull the head with the turbo and intake manifold still on.
