Default Transmission questions

Ok this is my first post on here and i have a quick question. Im a honda guy have been for a long time. And somebody wants to trade me a 89 turbo supra for my 95 civic so im thinking about doing it but... the supra is an automatic i was wondering if automatic supras are good? and if not how hard would it be to change it to a manual because thats what i would like to eventually do.

thanks--Travis

The best way to go is a manual... autos are okay, but you just can't beat a 5-speed - not to mention that if you are looking for mods, you would eventually swap to a 5spd anyways.

As for changing it to a manual, there's a sticky somewhere in the forums, I believe. I'm not exactly with the procedure off of the top of my head, but you may want to read the FAQ regarding it. From what I recall, it's not too terribly involved.

now that depends in what terms you're talkin

if you're draggin, a 5sp will get it's ass handed to them, autos are just superior on the drag strip
track racing, the best for that is a 5sp

the stock auto will handle an average of 300whp but as soon as you get there it won't be long before it does start giving up on you

it's not too hard to change to a manual... check it out in the faqs
