Starting Issue-Is this common?

Hey, I just bought an 88 Supra Turbo, Automatic. it seems in great condition, except it has touble starting, especially it seems worse when its warm! which is wierd to me..Iv talked to a few people, and i hear alot of "yea I had a friend(or cousin,, neighbor, or some relation) who had a supra that did the same thing"...but then no one seems to know what caused it. I did some searching on the net and found that the lexus's with the same engine(7ME)and found a couple of intances where they had a similar problem, with the TPS, or throttle positioning switch.......mine not only starts rough( take along time to fire...sputters bit when it first starts) but also it seems every once in a while has trouble with low RPMS...wants to sputter a little...now the hard starting seems to be all the time..hot, or cold...the low IDLE sputter seems to be rare..but does happen...anyone know what this could be symptoms of? TPS problem? any experiance with this?

Scan for codes to see if the computer knows anything about it.
You'll find proceedures for jumping the test connector and counting the 'check' light flashes.

A TPS can cause some of those problems. I just replaced one today for a guy. $75 my shop cost from Carquest. Fuel pressure drop can cause hard starting. Test fuel system per TSRM.
